NCBBA’s Red Drum Tournament is Oct 22-25
The North Carolina Beach Buggy Association’s sixth annual Red Drum tournament will be Oct. 22-25 on the northern beaches of Hatteras Island.
In 2009 the NCBBA Board of Directors voted to take this tournament on as a fundraiser for our continued fight for “free and open vehicular beach access.” Now in its sixth year, the tournament has become NCBBA’s largest fundraising event of the year.
The four-day event will once again be hosted by and headquartered at Frank & Fran’s in Avon.
The tournament has space for 300 paid anglers plus positions for 36 judges and other officials. Prior tournament participants were given an application for this year’s event in their 2013 tournament packet. All previous anglers had until May 31 to return their paid application to guarantee their spot in this year’s event.
The tournament is now open to all, and applications are now available at Frank & Fran’s and online at www.ncbba.org.
The cost to register is $100. And if you get five new anglers to sign up, your registration fee will be refunded.
Once again, NCBBA will be collecting non-perishable food items for the Hatteras Island Food Pantry” and new unwrapped toys for Toys for Tots during registration and throughout the tournament at Frank & Fran’s.
Last year, anglers caught 83 puppy drum and two citation red drum. All were measured and released alive.
