The Outer Banks Seafood Festival Board of Directors announced today that the 2020 Outer Banks Seafood Festival will be postponed until October 2021. With the health and safety of our attendees, volunteers and staff uppermost in mind, as well as the many unknowns regarding crowd gatherings, the decision was made to ensure that the Festival will remain a happy, positive event.
“The mission of the Outer Banks Seafood Festival is to provide a fun and educational experience, while at the same time promoting, honoring and celebrating our coastal seafood heritage and community,” said 2020 Outer Banks Seafood Festival Chair Richard Hess. “With the need for social distancing due to COVID-19, we didn’t feel we could provide the same experience that our attendees have come to expect and do so in a safe manner.”
“For 2021, we are considering adding an additional day to the Festival and perhaps even a second event in the spring of 2021,” added Hess. “Mark your calendars for the third weekend of October 2021.”
This annual event is held at the Outer Banks Sound Side Event Site in Nags Head. With an average of over 9,000 attendees this event is the largest single-day event in the community. The 2021 event will be held the weekend of October 16th visit oouterbankseafoodfestioval.org for information and updates.
