CHEC has presented the Cape Hatteras Secondary School (CHSS) with a grant made possible through the CoBank Sharing Success Grant Program. CoBank is a national cooperative bank that serves rural areas.
The cooperative gave $4,250 to CHSS, which was met with an additional $4,250 from CoBank, for reconstruction and improvements to the press box at the soccer field on the Buxton Back Rd. The funds will help purchase material and pay for labor to upgrade and enclose the existing press box so the league can store the electronics for the scoreboard, speakers and camera equipment. The field is home to one co-ed middle school team and CHSS’s varsity boys and girls teams. The field is also used for several youth soccer camps and community games for alumni and adults.
This donation was made possible through CoBank’s “Sharing Success” charitable contribution program, which celebrates the vital role that cooperatives play in individual communities across the country. Concern for community is a long-standing cooperative principle. CHEC is happy to join CoBank in support of this worthy cause, as the cooperative works to provide value to members and support to the communities on Hatteras Island.
