Dare County Sheriff’s Office warns public of new phone scam

The Dare County Sheriff’s Office issued the following press release on February 25 about an ongoing phone scam that is affecting Dare County residents.

Scammers using this new phone number, (252) 302-0620, are currently going around using deputies’ names from the Dare County Sheriff’s Office regarding missed court dates, money owed, missed jury duty etc.

They are using a different number, so please continue to hang up, block the number, and if you are unsure, please contact our office, (252) 475 5980.

Please note that the Dare County Sheriff’s Office nor any of their employees ever ask for payment, money in person or over the phone, text or internet for missed court dates, tickets etc.
