Hatteras Island Community Strings and A Major Harmony students will host a Winter Concert on Saturday, December 2, from 5:00 to 5:30 p.m. at the Avon Volunteer Fire Department Station.
The concert will showcase the 23 students who are currently receiving lessons with musician Jessie Taylor, and will feature a range of instruments including violin, ukulele, and guitar.
Hatteras Island Community Strings originated in 2022 after a St. John United Methodist Church (UMC) parishioner donated $10,000 for children to receive free music lessons.
Since then, the non-profit educational music program has hosted several recitals and has had regular classes for local students who are eager to learn.
The December 2 concert is wide open to the public, and everyone is encouraged to attend this community event where these students’ musical talents will be on full display.
