The non-profit organization Friends of Felines Hatteras Island will be hosting its annual yard sale on Saturday, May 25, and Sunday, May 26, from 9:00 a.m. until 2:00 p.m. on both days.
The yard sale will be held along NC. Highway 12 in Avon, across from Oceanas Bistro.
The annual yard sale, which has become an early summer tradition, features a wealth of local goodies donated by Friends of Felines volunteers and supporters from all across the Outer Banks.
Friends of Felines Hatteras Island (FOFHI) is an all-volunteer and non-profit feral cat advocate organization that’s based on the island, and which is dedicated to improving the lives of feral and community cats, and humanely reducing their numbers over time by utilizing the Trap-Neuter-Return method (TNR).
Hatteras Island is home to a number of feral/community cats, who have been local residents for generations, and FOFHI is at the frontlines of caring for these native residents, providing emergency medical services when needed, and finding homes for kittens and cats who would be better suited to a less-wild lifestyle. While there are similar organizations along the Outer Banks, such as the Ocracats on Ocracoke Island, FOFHI is the only organization dedicated to Hatteras Island’s feline residents.
All profits from the Yard Sale go to help the efforts of FOFHI, which have been going strong for more than 15 years.
Folks can also learn more about FOFHI, and become a sponsor of Hatteras Island’s feline natives, by visiting the organization’s website at http://fofhi.org/.
