The North Carolina Beach Buggy Association (NCBBA) recently made a $1,000 donation to the Hatteras Island Futbol Club (HIFC), which teaches soccer to local children, and has more than 100 young players participating in the program who are ages five and up.
“Hatteras Island Futbol Club was started this past year by some local coaches, but this was really just putting a name to things that had already been happening,” stated HIFC Director Ian O’Neal in an email. “It was founded with the idea of making a ‘Hatteras style’ club team that is able to get off the island and compete with other teams.”
“The [North Carolina Beach Buggy Association] is a big supporter of youth sports here on the island, along with many other things,” stated O’Neal. We are very grateful for their contribution.”
HIFC recently participated in a youth soccer tournament in the Newport News area. The recent donation will help with equipment and uniforms for the growing program, as they practice and prepare for more tournaments to come.
