Outer Banks Hotline begins its 2nd annual “OBX Men for Healthy Relationships” campaign to increase awareness and promote a safe and compassionate community in the Outer Banks. The campaign will kick off Mother’s Day weekend and run through Father’s Day weekend.
OBX Men for Healthy Relationships is about encouraging MEN to standing together to STOP THE CYCLE OF VIOLENCE. Violence comes in many forms from physical, sexual, verbal to social bullying, name-calling and public shaming. Having men in our community, from all walks of life, publicly acknowledge that healthy relationships are based on respect, trust and kindness, is a call to all men to unite in creating a community free from violence.
“This is only the second year of our campaign” said Bronwyn Thornton, Executive Director of Outer Banks Hotline. “Our plan for it to grow each year until it is goes from being a campaign to becoming a movement”.
By having men in our community denounce the use of all forms of violence, Outer Banks Hotline hopes to create community change.
Outer Banks Hotline is a 501.c.3 nonprofit organization and is Dare County’s only interpersonal violence (domestic abuse, sexual assault and human trafficking) crisis intervention and prevention agency. For more information or how you can donate, visit www.obhotline.org.
