CHEC announces winners of 2023/2024 Hatteras Island Photo Contest
The Cape Hatteras Electric Cooperative (CHEC) recently unveiled the 12 winning photos of their ninth annual photo contest, which will be featured in the upcoming 2024 CHEC calendar.
The contest, which runs from October through February every year, has become a popular competition among island residents, and features photos of Hatteras Island which are submitted by CHEC members.
“We received over 70 entries to the 2023 Member Photo Contest [and] judges had the challenging task of narrowing the entries down to three winners, plus nine additional finalists to complete the 2024 calendar,” said Laura Ertle, Director of Public Relations and Marketing for CHEC. “The photo contest is a fun way to engage with our members and celebrate what a beautiful and special place Hatteras Island is!”
The top three winners receive a credit from CHEC, while an additional nine winners are selected so that they can be highlighted in the annual calendar.
The upcoming 2024 calendars will be given away at CHEC’s Annual Meeting of Members on Monday, May 22, at the Cape Hatteras Secondary School. They will also be available at the CHEC office in Buxton after May 22, 2023.
