Hatteras Island Futbol Club will host a beach clean-up and Sand Soccer Tournament on April 12-13
The Hatteras Island Futbol Club has partnered with a number of Outer Banks organizations to host a weekend of community service, sand soccer, music, food, and more.
The two-day event launches on Saturday, April 12, with a beach clean-up from 9:00 a.m. until noon. Everyone is welcome to join in the fun, and can stop by any of the marked locations in the map below to help clean up the Hatteras Island beaches before the busy season starts.
The beach clean-up is also connected to the Sand Soccer Tournament, which means there are awards and discounts for joining in the group effort to clean up the local shorelines. Participating teams will receive a discount off their tournament fee, and awards will be given for the most enthusiastic trash collectors.
Sunday marks the official launch of the Sand Soccer Tournament, with multiple divisions for children and adults. Kids and adult teams can register online for the tournament event, and additional activities on tournament day include beach volleyball, spikeball, cornhole, food, music, and much more.
Start times for individual games on Sunday are determined by division, and a complete schedule can be found here.
This weekend event is hosted by the Hatteras Island Futbol Club, and proceeds from the tournament will go towards funding the club, and supporting improvements and enhancements.
Anyone can participate in the Saturday beach clean-up, the Sunday tournament, or both, and all of the details and tournament registration forms can be found on the event’s website.
