Hatteras Island hosting several local events for Black Friday shoppers
Islanders who prefer to skip the crowds and the stressful scene of a traditional Black Friday will have an opportunity to enjoy an island-style shopping spree this year, thanks to several planned markets that will be showcasing dozens of local artists and vendors.
The Avon Farmers Market, which is a favorite weekly event in the summer season, will host its second annual Black Friday market at its regular Avon locale, next to Pangea Tavern and the Koru Beach Club.
The one-day-only market has attracted roughly 40 vendors so far, (including familiar faces from the seasonal summertime market), and shoppers can expect to find a number of local treasures, including artworks, jewelry, apparel, pottery, Outer Banks delicacies, local foods and spices, unique holiday gifts, and much more.
The Avon Farmer’s Market will be held on Friday, November 26, from 9:00 a.m. until 1:00 p.m. For more information, visit https://www.facebook.com/Avon-NC-Farmers-Market-114250639939534.
The Light House Art Show will be also be held on Friday, November 26, and Saturday, November 27, from 10 a.m. until 3 p.m., at 48933 N.C. Highway 12 in Buxton, (across from the Cape Hatteras Secondary School.)
The event will feature a wide array of local artists and unique finds, and concessions will be available as well. Hungry shoppers can also pick up a$5 bag lunch, which includes drinks, chips, and a sweet dessert. More details can be found online at the Light House Local Artist’s Facebook page at https://www.facebook.com/buxtonlighthousearts/.
In addition, many local shops on Hatteras and Ocracoke Islands will be wide open on Black Friday, with a number of stores hosting special Black Friday and/or “End of Season” sales. With lots of local goodies that can’t be found anywhere else, and plenty of shops and events to choose from, Black Friday shopping on the islands is a must for anyone who has Outer Banks fans and beach lovers on their Christmas list.
