Island Community Invited to Free Holiday Christmas Shop in Salvo
Hatteras Island’s youngest community members are invited to a free holiday shopping spree on Wednesday, December 16, at the Salvo Fire Station’s makeshift “Christmas Shop.”
Children ages 13 and under are invited to come and “shop” for a Christmas gift for each member of their household. Though the free Christmas shop is becoming an annual tradition for the Tri-villages area, this year, participants are asked to pre-register for a specific timeslot in order to maintain social distancing guidelines and ensure a safe shopping environment for all.
Parents and families can sign up for one slot per child via the event’s online registration link. Time slots are available in 15-minute increments from 2:00 p.m. until 7:00 p.m. on December 16, with four total attendees allowed per time slot.
The Christmas shop is open to the public, and is free for all young attendees. The event is put together and sponsored by the Fair Haven United Methodist Church (UMC) in Rodanthe, and more upcoming holiday events in the Tri-villages area can be found on the Fair Haven UMC’s Facebook page.
