Hatteras and Ocracoke Islands’ newest weekly summertime market, the Tri Villages Market, is returning in 2025 for its third year in a row, solidifying a new tradition for the Rodanthe, Waves, and Salvo communities.

Though the northern Hatteras Island villages had a seasonal market years ago, the Tri Villages Market was a first for the area, attracting dozens of local artists and vendors, and thousands of summer visitors.

Megan Griffin, market organizer and owner of Highway 12 Shirts, launched the first-ever market in April 2023, and now with the third season on the horizon, she says that 2025 has some new additions.

“We are adding a few new businesses to our market and are currently accepting applications,” she said. “I don’t want to officially call Tri Villages Market a farmers market, but we do have buisinesses with fresh fruit and veggies, baked goods, fresh flowers, native plants, locally roasted coffee, local tea blends, organic granola, Rodanthe honey, fresh kettle corn, homemade jams, pickled products, lemonade, cold brew, and freeze dried goodies,” she said.

“Tri Villages Market also has many businesses specializing in jewelry, resin, woodwork, fun games and toys for kids, clothing, photography, stained glass, candles, souvenirs, permanent jewelry, Gyotaku, and even paper quilling.”

Held at the Camp Hatteras Campground at 24798 N.C. Highway 12 in Waves, the venue gives the market the freedom to set up inside the conference center, or outside on the soundside lawn, as the weather dictates. “Tri Villages Market is always rain or shine,” said Griffin. “Thank goodness for the conference center!”

The first market of 2025 will be held on Saturday of Memorial Day Weekend, (May 24), and will then continue every Wednesday from June 11 to September 24, rain or shine.

Market updates and new vendor applications can be accessed online via the Tri Villages Market at Camp Hatteras’ Facebook page.
