Per a recent update from the Koru Village & Avon Fishing Pier, due to circumstances outside of the pier’s control, the Independence Day fireworks on the Avon Fishing Pier will be rescheduled from Saturday, July 4, to Tuesday, July 7.
“The state of North Carolina requires a licensed pyrotechnic, (licensed in N.C.), to fire off each show performed,” stated pier operator Joe Thompson. “The pyrotechnic that was assigned to our show and who has been conducting our show for the last six years suffered a severe injury in the line of work and is unable to work the show this year. Due to the demand of fireworks on the 4th, the company contracted to do the show at the Avon Pier has been unsuccessful in finding a licensed pyrotechnic to take his place. Therefore, the Avon show will have to wait until a pyrotechnic is available following the other scheduled shows on the 4th”
“We foresee this only being an issue in 2020, and hope to return the fireworks to July 4th in 2021,” stated Koru Village & Avon Fishing Pier in a press release. “The Beach Klub at Koru Village is planning a concert and party to align with the fireworks on July 7th. We welcome the Hatteras Island community and its guests out for a night of dancing, fireworks, and music by the beach.”
“We are dedicated to making the fireworks and concert the best July 7th party anyone has ever attended and are looking forward to celebrating with you all.”
