BUXTON– William Howard Sawyer, 67, died Saturday, June 12, 2010 inhisresidence. Mr. Sawyer was born in Elizabeth City and servedhiscountry honorably in the U.S. Navy as a Mess Specialist for 20years. He was, with his wife, former owner/operator of BeachMartin Buxton, helped in making Connor Lures, and worked as a butcher inConner’s Supermarket for several years.
Hepredeceased by his parents, Woodrow Wilson and Lillie Williams Sawyer,and his wife, Merian Conner Sawyer.
Survivingis his daughter, Marsha L.S. Holmes and husband, James, and hisbrother-in-law, Johnny Conner, Jr. and wife, Rauna, all of Buxton, andhis nieces and nephews.
Aservice of remembrance will be Tuesday, June 22, at 2 p.m. in BuxtonUnited Methodist Church by the Rev. Cory Oliver and the Rev. DwightBurrus. Memorials may be made to the American Heart Society,3131RDU Center Drive, Suite 100, Morrisville, NC 27560.
