RODANTHE– Gary Wade Midgett, 46, son of Mildred Midgett and the late HerbertK. Midgett, Jr., passed away suddenly on Tuesday, Oct. 4,2011. He is preceded in death by his brother Herbert K. Midgett III and UncleJoseph “Mac” Midgett. Gary is survived by three children,Kayleigh Mae, Emma Joy, and Andrew Moore Midgett of Colington, N.C.,and grandson Kaiden “Wade” Earley.
In addition to his mother and children, Gary is survived by a sister,Linda Midgett; a brother, David Midgett and wife Kit of Rodanthe; andhis aunts Maggie Smith and Marilyn Midgett, of Rodanthe. Garyisalso survived by his special cousins, Willie, Jacob, and Lauren Smithof Rodanthe and Wilmington, N.C.; Joey Midgett of Frisco; MarthaCaldwell and husband Scott, and Myra and Claudia Caldwell of Hatteras,and many special cousins and friends. Also left to cherish his memoryis his girlfriend, Bonnie Jo Waits of Wanchese.
Gary was affiliated with Mac’s Garage all of his life and has run itsince his Uncle Mac passed away. He was also a commercialfisherman and was well known for being always willing to lend a helpinghand to those in need. Gary will be greatly missed.
The Funeral will be held at 2 p.m. on Sunday, Oct. 9, at theRodanthe-Waves-Salvo Community Center in Rodanthe, with the Rev. JamesBliss officiating. Burial will immediately follow the serviceinthe Midgett Family Cemetery in Rodanthe. Visitation will befrom6 until 8 p.m. on Sat., Oct. 8, at the Community Center and, and atother times, the family will receive friends at 24228 Dean Ave. inRodanthe.
