Eugene Bisantz
RODANTHE– The family of Anthony E. “Tony” Bisantz have planned a memorial Massof Celebration and Resurrection for Saturday, Dec. 10, at 11 a.m. atOur Lady of the Seas Church in Buxton. Tony’s freiends andneighbors are invited to attend.
AnthonyEugene Bisantz, 74, died peacefully at home on Hatteras Island on Oct.13, 2011, after a brief illness. Tony was born in Buffalo, N.Y., theson of the late Eugene A and Anne Jordan Bisantz. Tony leaveshiswife of 51 years, Charlotte Cook Bisantz, his children CarrieofGolden, Colo.; Robert (Lynn) of Cary, N.C.; Ellen (Mike deVries) ofKaarst, Germany; and Charles (Lynn) of Austin Texas; his sisters, MaryE. of Raleigh and Rodanthe, N.C., and Jean Patricia (Anthony) Caldieroof Buffalo, N.Y. He also leaves nine grandchildren and manynieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his son EugeneAnthonyII, his brother John W. of Kenmore, N.Y., and his sister Martha A.,GNSH of Buffalo N.Y.
Tony was a graduate of Bishop Fallon HighSchool and Canisius College in Buffalo. He retired after 23 years inthe U.S. Army as a Lieutenant Colonel. He served his countryaround the world, including two tours of duty in the Republic of VietNam, during which he was awarded the Silver Star for valor in the faceof the enemy. Other military honors included the Bronze StarwithOak Leaf Cluster, Combat Infantryman Badge, and Legion ofMerit. After military retirement, Tony worked as a financial consultant inMoline, Ill., retiring again in 1995.
Not only was Tony a herofor his countrymen, but he showed the same devotion to his family andloved ones, his church, and his community. Tony and Charlotterelocated to Rodanthe, where he served with the Chicamacomico BanksVolunteer Fire Department (CBVFD), volunteered with Our Lady of theSeas Catholic Church (OLS,) and as a tax aide in the AARP FoundationTax Aide Program.
Memorial services will be held at a laterdate, with final internment in Arlington National Cemetery. Donations in Tony’s memory may be made to the CBVFD, Our Lady of theSeas Church, Buxton N.C., or Dare County Home Health and Hospice.
