AVON– Billy E. Norrell, 82, passed away on Wednesday, April 3,2013 at Sentara General Hospital in Norfolk,Va. He was born on Nov. 16, 1930 in SouthCarolina.
Billyjoined the United States Navy in 1949 and servedfor 30 years, serving in the Korean andVietnam wars and was a highly decorated officer in electronicwarfare. He retired in 1979, achieving the rank of Commander.
Billy’s greatest loves other than his wife and family were fishing, bowling, and being Granddaddy.
Billyis survived by his lifetime and loving wife, Christine, ofAvon; his three daughters, Donna (Joe) Heuneman, Sharon (Danny)Angelillo, Sandra (Don) Bray, and five very special grandchildren andeight great-grandchildren.
A memorial service will be held at Twiford Funeral Home, 500 Budleigh Street, Manteo, at 1 p.m. on Saturday, April 6.
Inlieu of flowers, the family requests memorial donations be made to theMake A Wish Foundation in honor of cancer survivor Joshua Heuneman, hisgreat-grandson.
