ChesterBrantley Britt Jr., “Runt”, 85, of Hatteras Island, died Sunday, June,28, 2015 at his home. He was born in Durham, N.C., to the late ChesterBritt Sr. and Rosa Leslie Britt and was the widower of the late WandaRosiello Britt. Chester retired from the Navy, ran a tackle shop(Island Tackle), was active in the Masons, Order of the Eastern Star,Beach Buggy Association, and Cape Hatteras Anglers Club. He was veryinvolved with the children of the community.
He is survived by his pride and joy, grandniece, Tiffany (Chris) Bock,and great- grandniece, Kalynn Bock; brother, Bobby Britt, and family,of Alabama; nieces, Rose (Gary) Weigel and Belinda Taylor; nephews,John (Darlene) Ochs, Eddie (Juanita) Ochs, and Jimmy (Deborah) Bigham;grandnieces, Cindie Bigham, Sarah Bigham, Samantha Taylor, and RosaTaylor; great-grandniece, Hannah Bigham; great-grandnephew KaidenTaylor; sister-in-law, Gina Ochs; and special friend, Jo Holloman, andfamily.
A funeral service will be held on Wednesday, July 1, at 1 p.m. at CapeHatteras Baptist Church, with Reverend Russ Howard officiating. Avisitation for family and friends will be on Tuesday, June 30, from6:30 to 8:30 p.m. at the church. He will be entombed in the RoanokeIsland Memory Garden mausoleum. In lieu of flowers and food, pleasemake donations to the Cape Hatteras Booster Club or Hatteras IslandEducation Foundation.
