Virginia Robinson
FRISCO — Dorothy Virginia Robinson (n�e Pettitt) passed awayunexpectedly at her home on Jan. 9, 2016 at the age of 86.
Left to cherish her memory are her daughter, Margie Randall, andhusband, Clint; Grandsons Ken Randall and wife, Shannah, and TomRandall, and wife, Alicia; and great-granddaughters, Lauren James, andhusband, Dustin, Taylor Randall, Erin Randall, and Madison Randall. Thenewest love of her life was her great great-granddaughter Rilee James.She was preceded in death by her husband, John, son Stanley Jr., andher siblings, Robert, Leonard, Hazel, and Jimmy.
Dorothy was born on Jan. 17, 1929 in Fairfax, Va., to Guy and MayPettitt. She spent most of her lengthy career as a comptroller forvarious businesses in Virginia and then Hatteras Island. She had manyfond memories of her co-workers and employers that she liked to share.She was extremely active in the Winchester, Va., chapter of the MooseLodge. She enjoyed traveling with her husband, John, and acquired manydear friends during this time. After John’s passing in 1989, she movedto Hatteras Island to be close to her daughter and family. She joinedthe Cape Hatteras Baptist Church shortly after settling in Frisco,where she quickly made numerous friends that she dearly loved andcherished throughout the years.
She was the perfect embodiment of a dignified, beautiful Southern lady.She had a generous spirit and was quick to offer praise and a hug intimes of accomplishment or when anyone needed a little comfort. Sheloved spending time with family and friends and was always proud andboastful of her four great-granddaughters, not only for theirachievements but for their character. Her love of life, quick wit,determination, and the sparkle in her eye will never be forgotten butwill live on in the hearts and minds of all who knew and truly lovedher.
The family would like to thank Dare County EMS and all the firstresponders for their efforts and compassion exhibited during a veryemotional and heartbreaking moment. We would also like to thank themembers of Cape Hatteras Baptist
Church and the entire Hatteras Island community for their condolencesand support. The amount of love that has been displayed for Miss Dottiehas helped ease the tremendous pain of our loss.
A celebration of life is scheduled for 6 p.m. on Tuesday, Jan. 12, atthe Cape Hatteras Baptist Church in Frisco with a reception to followat the church. Pastor Russ Howard will officiate the ceremony. All arewelcome to attend and celebrate Dorothy’s life.
