OCRACOKE — Sherry Simonne O’Neal, 78, died on Friday, June 3,2016 at her home. A native of Ocracoke Island, she was the daughter ofthe late Herbert O’Neal Sr. and Katie A. O’Neal. Sherry was retiredfrom the National Park Service and a member of Ocracoke UnitedMethodist Church.
Sherry is survived by one nephew, Edward C. O’Neal Jr. of Washington,N.C.; three nieces, Mary Anna Paul of Washington, N.C., Donna Sue Beckof Delco, N.C. and Gloria Formy’eubal of Riegelwood, N.C.; onesister-in-law, Shirley Clayter O’Neal of Delco, N.C.; fourgreat-nieces, Carman O’Neal, Tina Snapp, Dawn Bordeaux and AmberWilkins; four great-nephews, James Paul, John Paul, Scott Beck andCharles Formy’eubal; six great-great-nieces; six great-great-nephews;and four special friends, Alice Rosazza of Florida, Alton and KennyBallance both of Ocracoke, and Harry Clarke of Swan Quarter.
Along with her parents, Sherry was preceded in death by four brothers,Herbert O’Neal Jr., Edward O’Neal Sr., Donald O’Neal, and Brandford T.(Dubbie) O’Neal.
A funeral will be held at 1 p.m. on Friday, June 10, at Ocracoke UnitedMethodist Church with Rev. Richard Bryant and Rev. Ivey Belchofficiating. Private burial will take place at the Ocracoke CommunityCemetery.
