MANTEO — Angela Chappell Horne, 66, of Manteo, passed away peacefully at her home on Wednesday, February 8, 2023.
Angela was born in Chowan County, NC and was a dedicated wife to her beloved husband, the late Ralph Horne, mother of five, and grandmother of eight. She devoted her life to ensuring her children and grandchildren had wonderful experiences and lasting memories. There’s no way that we could ever quantify the importance that Angela has held in our lives. Our mother was everything you could have hoped for and absolutely adored her grandchildren. She was a woman of many talents- she was happiest when sharing her knowledge of flowers, cooking, and painting with her grandchildren or in the backyard teaching them how to swim. Angela loved Dare County and knew it was the perfect place to raise a family. She loved the endless summers, the beautiful beaches, collecting shells and beach glass, the evening boat rides, the charm of Manteo and catching the spectacular sunsets over the sound. She was our biggest fan and a familiar face for many decades at the gyms and ball fields across Dare County, cheering on her children and grandchildren. One of her greatest pleasures was gardening. She had one heck of a green thumb and took pride in her beautiful flowers.
Angela was the daughter of the late Moody Lee Chappell, Jr. and Ruby Rhodes Chappell. She is survived by her brother, Jerry Reginald Chappell and his wife Angelia.
Angela is joined in Heaven by her adoring husband, Ralph Horne. She is survived by her children Justin Lee Horne and his wife, Caroline; Tara Shannon Horne and Dustin Jones; Brian Wayne Horne and his wife, Whitney; Lauren Horne Carter and her husband, Jay; and Samuel Ryan Horne. Her grandchildren are Emma, Brian, and Ella Horne; Sam, Jake, and Wyatt Carter; and Finlee and Fisher Horne.
Angela was loved by many and will be missed by all. We will always carry her memory in our hearts.
A celebration of life will be held on Saturday, March 4, 2023, from 3:00 until 5:00 pm at The Dunes Restaurant.
