August 28, 1968 – January 6, 2022
KILL DEVIL HILLS — Christopher “Bucky” Matthew Clemmons, 53, of Kill Devil Hills, NC left us suddenly on January 6, 2022 and our worlds will never be the same.
He is survived by his fiancé, whom he loved dearly, Christie Archibald of Kill Devil Hills, NC, Mother and Father-in-Law to be, Nancy and Steve Archibald of Kill Devil Hills, NC, and his sister Randi Welch and nephews Dale Welch, Zachary Welch, and Michael Welch of Bradenton, FL. Bucky was predeceased by his father and mother Randy and Bobbie Clemmons. Also, left to mourn his loss are a legion of friends including Billy Burley, Kirk Kellett, Steve Messineo, Matt Snyder, Hannah Williams Dunavant, and Grey Persons.
Bucky was born in Norfolk, VA on August 28, 1968. His early life was spent in Hampton, VA, and then in Virginia Beach where he attended Frank W. Cox High School. Bucky left Virginia Beach in 1987 and spent time living on the Outer Banks, California, and Puerto Rico where he lived his best life bodyboarding and making friends. He returned to the East Coast in the early ‘90s and settled on the Outer Banks.
Bucky loved the ocean and bodyboarding. He was an amazing rock and roll musician (guitarist) and an artist who lived every day on his own terms. He was a genuine and absolutely authentic person. There is no one else on the planet like him. With Buc, what you saw was what you got, and what you got was love and some of the best times of your life. His fascination and love for sharks started as a child after watching the movie Jaws. He would spend hours talking about the weather, guitars, and anything music-related.
Buc loved people and he made everyone feel special. He had a way of adopting families and loved pitching in during a cookout. He was very easy to be around and never complained. He was a Force For Fun. We should all strive to be more like Buc.
Bucky loved Rock and Roll and will be remembered always, by everyone who was lucky enough to see him play with his band Fujiwara and his brothers, in music and life, Billy Burley and Kirk “Skillet” Kellett.
He and his fiancé Christie shared many wonderful years together and had recently moved into their dream home. They loved dancing around the living room to their song “Never Tear Us Apart” (INXS), cooking spicy meals together, and making plans for their future. Our hearts are with Christie.
Bucky will be dearly missed by so many on the Outer Banks and in Virginia Beach. We will think of him often.
A memorial service is planned for later this year.
