AVON — Courtland H. Grimm, Jr. (Courty) passed peacefully in his sleep on January 22, 2023. He is survived by his wife of 52 years, Jane, their two loved sons, Courtland David (wife Stacey) and Edward Blake Grimm and one loved grandson, Courtland Jacob Grimm.
Born February 10, 1946 in Alexandria, VA, Courty is a graduate of Kent School in CT, Southeastern University in DC and completed graduate work at University of Georgia in Athens. He was an avid sailor, collector of antique cars, nurtured bonsai, flew kites on the beach, grew beautiful orchids, loved sitting on the deck and watching the birds and the sunsets on the Sound. Courty coached David’s soccer team throughout David’s elementary school years and was at every one of Blake’s baseball and lacrosse games. He cheered Jacob on in soccer and football. He was extremely proud of his family and their accomplishments.
After working in banking until 2008, Courty retired and relocated to Avon, NC in 2012.
A Celebration of Life will be held on Tuesday, January 31, 2023 at 10:00 am at Our Lady of the Seas Catholic Church in Buxton, NC. Father Fred Smuda, OSFS, will officiate and the eulogy will be given by the Rev. Stacey L. Grimm. A reception will be held in the Fellowship Hall immediately following the service.
