David Ross Burrus, 66, of Hatteras passed away surrounded by loved ones on Friday, December 28,2018. He was preceded in death by his parents, Lois W. Burrus and Roscoe Burrus Jr. He leaves behind friends and loved ones.
He was a retired volunteer fire fighter, where he served over 40 years with the Hatteras Volunteer Fire Department, some as Chief Engineer. He was also one of the first EMTs on Hatteras Island. He was the owner of Burrus Motor Court in Hatteras.
A celebration of his life will be held on Sunday, January 6 at 3 p.m. at the Hatteras United Methodist Church in Hatteras. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be sent to the Hatteras Volunteer Fire Department or the Hatteras United Methodist Church.
