KILL DEVIL HILLS — Dr. H. Bruce Weaver passed away on February 5, 2022, at the age of 77 surrounded by his family at his home. Bruce is survived by his beautiful loving wife and best friend, Debbie, his sister Gail, his two children Bruce III and Hope, and his grandchildren, Meghan, Bruce IV and Sam, and his nephew, Page.
Bruce was born in San Tome, Venezuela where he spent fourteen years and met his future wife. He attended military school and went on to earn several college degrees including his Doctorate from Vanderbilt University. Bruce worked on tugboats, the Saturn 5 rocket, and owned a gas station before becoming a professor, where his deep love of teaching led him to the position of Chairman of the Business Department at Lycoming College. After raising a family and 30 years of teaching, Bruce and Debbie retired to the Outer Banks of North Carolina. There they spent their time between sailing and camping adventures and spoiling their dog Lolita.
Although over the years he enjoyed sailing, flying, camping, fishing, hang gliding, hiking, cross country skiing, camping, scuba diving, running, photography, cooking, and spending time at his cabin on Pine Creek, he enjoyed them most with Debbie or his family by his side.
He believed life was an adventure best traveled together and from the oil fields of Venezuela to sunsets over the Albemarle Sound, he embraced every minute of it.
Due to Bruce’s widespread family and friends, a celebration of life will be held in Pennsylvania at a date and location to be determined and published in the near future.
In honor of his passion for teaching and education, we ask that donations be made to the Imagination Library providing free books to children (https://donate.imaginationlibrary.com).
Twiford Funeral Homes, Outer Banks is assisting the family with arrangements. Condolences and memories may be shared at www.TwifordFH.com.
