MANTEO — Frances Carolyn Jump Brinn, age 81, of Manteo, NC, passed away suddenly on June 28, 2024, at Sentara Norfolk General Hospital. Born on July 4, 1942, in Charlotte, NC, she was the daughter of the late Esther Blake O’Neal Jump and Floyd Robert Jump.
Frances had a zest for life and found joy in simple pleasures. She enjoyed walking, strolling her babies, spending time with family and friends, fishing, playing cards, and listening to music. Her ability to can hop always brought smiles to those around her. Frances was a devoted member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints and was known as the best nanny in the world, caring for many children in the Manteo community.
She is survived by her daughter, Ruth A. Gibbs (Omega Spencer) of Manteo, NC; sons, Clarence B. “Buddy” Brinn III (Kim Meador) of Shawsboro, NC, and Freddy L. Brinn (Melody) of Roanoke, VA; grandchildren, Rickey Gibbs, Jr., Julian Miller, Jasmin Miller, Jayden Miller, Jordan Miller, Clarence “Lil Buddy” Brinn IV, Shane Brinn, Ryan Brinn, Jamie Crenshaw, and Brandon Linkous; fifteen great-grandchildren; sister, Cheryl Jump Simmons of Manteo, NC; two brothers, Robert Jump of Manns Harbor, NC, and Ralph Carl Jump (Patricia) of Manteo, NC; as well as many nieces, nephews, and extended family members she cherished dearly.
In addition to her parents, Frances was preceded in death by her husband, Clarence B. Brinn, Jr.; grandson, Jeffrey Brinn; brothers, Cecil (Kathleen) and David James Jump; and sister-in-law, Jean Jump.
A celebration of Frances’ life will be held at 1:00 pm on Wednesday, July 3, 2024, at The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints Nags Head Ward, with Bishop Long officiating. A graveside committal service will immediately follow at Roanoke Island Memorial Gardens. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Twiford Funeral Homes to assist with funeral expenses.
Frances will be remembered for her warm heart and unwavering love for her family. She touched the lives of many and will be deeply missed. May she rest in peace.
