Gracie Meekins Gray

AVON — Gracie Meekins Gray was called home by her Lord and Savior Jesus Christ on March 28, 2025. She was the daughter of the late Alice and Damon Meekins. Gracie spent her early childhood in Norfolk Virginia and later moved to Avon where she graduated high school and met her husband John D Gray.

Gracie enjoyed several jobs throughout her life working at Cape Hatteras High School and working as a real estate agent for Colony Realty, but her greatest accomplishment was building and operating her own business, Sands of Time Campground.

Gracie also loved going to church and being a servant for Jesus. She was the Youth leader of The Methodist MYF and a member of The Ladies Auxiliary. She was a devoted wife, mother and friend whose kind heart touched the lives of many.

Her legacy lives on through her daughters Dana and Alicia who remember her as a nurturing and supportive mother. Gracie’s memory will forever be cherished by her family and friends. Her presence in their lives was a blessing and will be dearly missed.

Gracie’s funeral will be held graveside at the Meekins Family Cemetery in Avon, NC Saturday April 5, 2025 at 11 am. Pastor Gina Miller will officiate. In lieu of flowers, donations in Gracie’s name may be made to St John United Methodist Church (stjohnobx.org). Please share expressions of sympathy with the Gray family at gallopfuneralservices.com.
