November 4, 1983 – June 22, 2021
KITTY HAWK — James Ray Scarborough, 37, of Kitty Hawk, NC was taken too soon from his loving family. He succumbed to his injuries following a car wreck on June 22, 2021.
Born in Elizabeth City, NC on November 4, 1983, he was the son of Deborah Henley Scarborough and Jimmy Ray Scarborough.
James was blessed with one son, Zephyr Osage, and one fur baby, Prada. Both whom he loved with his whole heart.
With a huge heart, James Ray loved the Lord and his family. He was a free spirit with so much talent. An artist with a pencil and tattoo ink, he found beauty in the world and lived in the moment. He was well-traveled and there wasn’t a corner of this country he hadn’t seen.
In addition to his parents and son, James is survived by his sister, Sarah Scarborough (Evans); and three nephews he adored, Hunter, Holden, and Hudson. Also, surviving are his maternal grandparents, Leslie Rex Henley, Sr. and Betty Lou Henley; uncles: David Henley (Sheri), Andy Scarborough (Ellen); and aunts, Leslie Henley, Diane Midgett, Linda Scarborough and cousins Jamie, David, and Josh Henley.
He was preceded in death by his maternal great-grandparents, Zola B. “Gram” and Melvin Tillett; paternal grandparents, Ray L. and Ada C. Scarborough; and uncle, Rex Henley, Jr.
A graveside service will be held at 12:00 pm on Monday, June 28, 2021, at Austin Cemetery. To honor James Ray and his gypsy, hippie spirit, the family invites all to wear beach attire or tie-dye.
