Joseph Boyd Duke Jr., 71, of Kill Devil Hills, went to be with the Lord on June 27, 2024. Joe was born in Portsmouth, VA, on February 19, 1953, to the late Joseph Duke, Sr. and Frances Duke. Joe was a devoted husband to his wife, Paula Duke, who predeceased him in 2019.
Joe was hardworking and dedicated. He and Paula founded Coastal Cab on the Outer Banks. They grew the company for over twenty years, eventually becoming Coastal Transportation. Joe was known for his great business mind and kind heart. Despite his many responsibilities, Joe always found time for his friends and family. He also served his community for a number of years as a volunteer firefighter in Colington Harbour.
Though Joe may not have liked being the center of attention, he deserves to have his long years of dedication to his family and friends honored. He was a man of integrity, kindness, and generosity. Joe left a lasting impact on all that knew him.
