MANTEO — Joseph Earl Hardy of Manteo, N.C. passed away on Wednesday, October 23, 2019 at the age of 57. Joseph was born to parents Jack Lewis Hardy and Mary Francis Lamb on December 23, 1961 in Manteo, N.C.
He was employed as a carpet installer with A&B Carpets for several years. He also worked with Johnson Boatbuilders as well as being self-employed with his own business of installing carpet in yachts for several boat builders on the Outer Banks. In his later years, he worked as a commercial fisherman with Floyd Gibbs, a position that he enjoyed tremendously.
Josie, as he was known by his family and friends, was an avid fisherman. He loved being on the water or at the beach trying to catch that one big fish that would always get away! He was a wonderful father and grandfather to Danielle, Sabra and Joseph Jr. (Little Joe) and granddaughter, Kylauni. He was also a wonderful friend to all who knew him and would help anyone that needed his help.
Josie is survived by his daughters, Danielle C. Hardy, Sabra Basnight Hardy and son, Joseph E. Hardy Jr. (Little Joe); granddaughter, Kylauni Hardy; sisters, Michelle (Bill) Congleton, Rosemary (Jim) Broadhurst; brothers, Martin L. Hardy, Myron Hardy, Terry (Mona) Hardy and Carl (Mary) Hunt and numerous nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents Jack Lewis Hardy and Mary Francis Lamb.
Josie’s memorial service will be held at the Gallop Chapel in Nags Head, NC Sunday October 27, 2019 at 2 pm. Condolences to the family may be expressed via the online register at www.gallopfuneralservices.com. Gallop Funeral Services was entrusted with arrangements.
