Katharine Anne “Katie” Conte died June 18, 2021, at home, surrounded by loving family, after a lengthy, valiant battle with cancer. Katie was born July 21, 1979, in Alexandria, Virginia, and spent most of her life in Northern Virginia. She earned her bachelor’s degree in Information Systems from Strayer University. Katie had a talent for computer software and customer service; she put those skills to use in the non-profit industry as a database manager and consultant for over 20 years.
Katie cherished spending time with friends and family. She had a large circle of friends, most of whom she had kept in touch with since elementary school. She was an avid fan of Washington sports and enjoyed attending Redskins, Nats, and Caps games. Having enjoyed summer vacations with family in the Outer Banks for 30 years, Katie chose to spend her final months there when she entered hospice. Family was especially important to her, and she was proud to see her son Robbie graduate from both the U.S. Army boot camp and Advanced Individual Training, and her daughter Amanda graduate from college this year. Katie will be remembered for her strength, faith, and sense of humor.
