MANTEO — Melville Warren Jones, 74, of Manteo, NC, died at his home on Sunday, April 9, 2023.

A native of Pasquotank County, he was born May 22, 1948, to the late Virginia Frances Liverman Jones and Melville Wright Jones.

Warren is survived by three daughters, Lauren Abernethy and husband Michael of St. Leonard, MD, Ashley McLeod of Amherst, VA, and Courtney Nunnally of Midlothian, VA; one son, Travis Jones and wife Hillary of Apex, NC; grandchildren, Seth Nunally, Clara Jones, Chase Vega, Granger Jones, River Nunally, Ahsha Dixon, Jackson Abernethy, and Hilton Jones; and two sisters, Mary C. Oliver (Garry) and Kerry Smith (Tony).

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Jane Magette Jones, and his son, Keith Wright Jones.

A celebration of life will be held at a later date. Inurnment will take place in Manteo Cemetery.
