Charleston, SC — Miriam Elizabeth Beyer, age 59, of Charleston, South Carolina, passed away on February 16, 2024, of renal cell carcinoma.
She was born in Clarksburg, West Virginia, in 1964 to the late Vaughn and Elizabeth (Libby) Michael. She received a Bachelor’s Degree from West Virginia University in 1986 and moved to the Outer Banks in North Carolina, where she taught dance for over 30 years. During that time, she owned the Island School of Dance for 15 years.
Miriam will be deeply missed by her beloved spouse, Art Beyer; her daughter, Kira Hicks; her sisters, Miki Waring and Monica Warden and all who knew and loved her. She is preceded in death by her parents, Vaughn and Libby Michael. She touched the lives of all who knew her, especially her dance students, with her kindness, compassion, and unwavering love. Her gentle spirit and warm smile lit up every room she entered, and her absence leaves a void that can never be filled.
A Celebration of Life gathering for Miriam will be held on Sunday, April 28, 1- 4 pm at Jennette’s Pier in Nags Head, NC, in the Oceanview Hall – 3rd floor of the pier house. (7223 S Virginia Dare Trail, Nags Head, NC 27959). This will be a time to share our favorite memories of Miriam. Regarding attire, Miriam asked that you wear “happy” colors – no black.
