December 3, 1991 – July 30, 2020
WANCHESE — Ramey Spencer Tillett, 28, of Wanchese, NC died Thursday, July 30, 2020.
A native of Dare County, he was born December 3, 1991, to Ricki Wilson Tillett and Craig Tillett (Leslie) all of Wanchese.
Ramey loved to be on the water. He loved to go out in the boat for a day at the sand island, a quick trip around the harbor, a dip in the ocean or to participate in any water sporting activities. He also enjoyed fishing and worked as a commercial fisherman. Ramey was a hard worker and gave “it his all” in every endeavor he tried. He loved to help people and would go out of his way to do so; he had a big heart. Ramey had a relationship with the Lord and felt comfort in knowing that Jesus was his Savior.
Ramey was a special man who loved people with an intensity that few possess. The time he spent with his friends and family was precious to him. Those who knew him well found his witty, sarcastic way to be humorous and endearing. He was nicknamed lots of titles “Ramos” “Ram Rod” “Rambo” and more…each given by friends whom he loved like a brother. Ramey and his brother, Brocke, had a special bond that could never be broken. He loved dogs especially HallieMae and Emmitt. But his greatest love was Hope Shiflet. From the moment she walked into his life, he knew his life had been blessed; and he was a better man.
In addition to his parents, he is survived by two brothers, Brocke Tillett and Kolton Henderson; and three stepsiblings, Ashley Bell, Michelle Anderson, and Walter Davis; grandparents, Gilbert “Moon” and Jean Tillett; and a host of extended family members, relatives, and friends.
He was preceded in death by his maternal grandparents, William “Billy” and Janet Wilson, paternal grandmother, Linda Tillett; and a paternal-stepbrother, Marvin McGahan.
A funeral service will be held at 3:00 pm on Friday, August 7, 2020, at Twiford Colony Chapel, Manteo. The family will receive friends and relatives one hour prior to the service. Private burial will take place at Tillett Cemetery in Wanchese.
