NAGS HEAD — Salina Lynn Moose, 59, of Nags Head, NC, courageously battled ovarian cancer before she passed away on September 19, 2023, at her home. She was born on March 11, 1964, in Statesville, NC. Salina graduated from West Iredell High School in 1982 and graduated from Mitchell Community College with a BA degree.
Salina married Michelle R. Miller on October 15, 2016, on the beach in Nags Head, NC.
Salina had an 18-year career at Hunt Bienfang Corp in Statesville, NC.
For three years, she worked as an Operations Manager for Sound Feet Shoes in Nags Head, NC. Salina worked at Kitty Hawk Kites as a store manager in Nags Head, NC, and as a warehouse manager in Kill Devil Hills, NC, for almost 18 years. She is predeceased by her father, Kenneth Jack Moose, and her mother, Margaret Theresa Brown Moose, her sister, Lisa Money, and brother-in-law, Tim Williams.
Survivors in addition to her wife, Michelle Miller include her son, Kolten D. Miller (age 13), of the residence; a sister, Rhona L. Williams of Statesville, NC; and three nieces and a nephew also of Statesville, NC (Jennifer Ayers, Sarah Davidson, Anna Money and Chris Bolick.) Also surviving is Salina’s brother-in-law, Robert Money; and uncles Lannie Brown (Jean) of Troutman, NC, and Bobby Moose of Loray, NC, as well as many cousins. Salina has many friends and family members that she loved and cherished. She felt lucky to have had the time to visit with many of them and tell them what they meant to her before she passed.
If you knew Salina, you know she had impeccable timing with her jokes. She was very witty and had a wonderful, dry sense of humor. She loved to go to the beach at Pea Island on the Outer Banks and shoot hoops with her son—really doing anything with him as he was the center of her universe. She had a fierce work ethic. Salina was incredibly strong during her fight with ovarian cancer for seven years.
Michelle is honoring Salina’s directives for cremation. No memorial services are planned, but a celebration of Salina’s life will be held at a later date. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations can be made to Ovarian Cancer Research Alliance (OCRA) on Salina’s tribute page at https://tribute.ocrahope.org/salinamoose. Sentiments of love and sympathy may be shared with the family at www.gallopfuneralservices.com. Gallop Funeral Services was entrusted with arrangements.
