MELBOURNE, FL — Shirley Daniels Wright Webber, 86, of Melbourne, Florida, formerly of Jarvisburg, North Carolina died peacefully at her home on April 11, 2021 with her loving daughters, JoAnn Wright Jaunich and Donna Wright Donovan and her husband, David Everett Webber, by her side.
A native of Wanchese, NC, Shirley was born March 14, 1935 to the late Miriam Cudworth Daniels and Arnold Leston Daniels. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Mark Gregory “Snookie” Wright.
Shirley had fond memories of growing up on Roanoke Island including long-netting with her father and uncles aboard the F/V Mary E, working as a barefoot waitress at the Oasis Restaurant on the Nags Head Causeway, and sneaking backstage at the outdoor production of The Lost Colony. She was a proud member of the Manteo High School Class of 1953 and cherished the annual reunions with her classmates.
After graduating from East Carolina College in 1957, Shirley taught school in Chesapeake, VA, and Currituck County, NC. She was most proud of her work with the Currituck County Social Services Department. A compassionate person who found joy in helping others, Shirley enjoyed working with the elders in her community.
Shirley grew up attending the Bethany United Methodist Church in Wanchese, NC and was later a member of the Poplar Branch Baptist Church in Grandy, NC and the Duck United Methodist Church in Duck, NC. Most recently, she was a member of the Suntree United Methodist Church in Melbourne, FL.
Shirley enjoyed traveling, visiting all 50 US States as well as many National Parks and several Canadian Provinces. She especially loved Newfoundland, which reminded her of her beloved Outer Banks.
She loved the ocean and spent many hours at Coquina Beach with her friends as a teenager and at Kitty Hawk Pier teaching her young daughters how to swim. In later years, she enjoyed collecting seashells with her grandchildren.
A devoted grandmother and great-grandmother, Shirley loved attending little league baseball, hockey and soccer games, as well as dance recitals and drama productions. She never missed a High School or College Graduation or Military Celebration for her grandchildren.
Shirley is survived by husband Dave, and daughters JoAnn and husband, Joseph of Melbourne, FL, and Donna and husband, Edward of Plymouth, MA; six grandchildren, Andrew Jaunich and wife Megan of St. Paul, MN, Gregory Jaunich of Melbourne, FL, Captain Kirk Jaunich, USAF, and wife Natalie of Columbus, MS, Mark Donovan of Atlanta, GA, Mary Donovan and fiancé, Ashok Selby of Plymouth, MA and Matthew Donovan and fiancé, Laura Gilland of Boston, MA; three great-grandsons Aleksander, Nikolas and Thorfinn Jaunich. She is also survived by Dave’s children Melissa Webber and Michael White of Ashland, VA and Randon Webber and wife Sarah of Grand Rapids, MI and two grandchildren Liam White and Sydney Webber; sister Brenda Stephenson of Melbourne, FL and “brother” Murray Bridges of Colington, NC.

The family would like to thank the staff of Health-First Private Duty including caregivers Yettie, Jeanie, Carmella, Melanie, Kristen, Melissa, and Kayla for their outstanding care and compassion.
Graveside services will be held Monday, April 19, 2021 at 1pm in The Cudworth Cemetery, Wanchese, NC with the Reverend Brad Williams officiating.
