HATTERAS — Talmage Manning Willis, Sr. passed away peacefully on September 15, 2023, in his hometown of Hatteras, NC. He was born on July 8, 1940, to Catherine O’Neal Willis and Harmon Jones Willis, Sr. Talmage was called to rest at the age of 83.
Throughout his life, Talmage dedicated his career to serving the community. He worked diligently as a supervisor for the NCDOT – Ferry Division, leaving a lasting impact on his colleagues and the transportation industry.
Talmage’s memory will be cherished by his loving wife, Eugenia Tolson Willis, who stood by his side through thick and thin. He leaves behind a daughter, Faye Willis Hardison (Samuel); a son, Talmage M. Willis, Jr.; granddaughters, Samantha Anderson (Rick) and Sherry Haddock (Mark); and great-grandchildren, Blane Stoeckle, Will Anderson, Owen Anderson, Karlee Stoeckle, and Hayden Haddock. He is also survived by his sisters, Iva Prince and Kathy Ruter; and brother, Sheldon Willis.
Talmage was preceded in death by his parents, Catherine O’Neal Willis and Harmon Jones Willis, Sr., and his brother, Harmon J. Willis, Jr. Although he will be deeply missed, his memory will continue to live on in the hearts of all those who were fortunate enough to know him.
Services to honor and celebrate Talmage’s life will be held at a later date, allowing friends and family to come together and pay their respects.
