MANTEO — Tracy Greene France, 53, of Manteo, NC died Saturday, March 19, 2022, at her home after a long illness. Tracy was born in Mount Airy, North Carolina on August 6, 1968. She attended UNC at Wilmington graduating in the spring of 1987.
Tracy enjoyed competing in state and national pageants as a teenager and was crowned Miss Jr. North Carolina for 1987. She also placed third in the Miss North Carolina Pageant the following year.
After college, Tracy moved to Nags Head with her family where she met her husband of 30-years.
She enjoyed a long career in local and regional modeling, as well as 25 years in retail management. She enjoyed a life of beachcombing, sailing with her family, and “workin in the yard”.
She is survived by her husband, Mark; her beloved son, Mark Chandler, Jr. of Raleigh, NC; a brother, Richard Greene, Jr. (Felicia) of Hampstead, NC; brothers-in-law, Mike France (Kelley) of Manteo, NC and Kellam France of Nags Head, NC; and many beloved nieces and nephews spread across North Carolina.
Tracy was preceded in death by her parents, Richard Greene, Sr. and Gayle Turner Greene; and her beloved younger sister, Lori Greene Buckner.
A memorial service will be held at 2:00 pm on Friday, April 1, 2022, at Twiford Colony Chapel with Rev. Dr. Susanna W. Fitch-Slater officiating. A graveside service will be held at the family burial in Chatham County, NC in the spring.
