Pompton Plains, NJ — William Raymond Withers, Jr., of Pompton Plains, NJ, passed away on October 9, 2023, while vacationing on the Outer Banks of North Carolina with his wife and longest friends. He was 71. He was born on February 27, 1952, in Mountainside, New Jersey, to the late Ruth Wilson Withers and William Raymond Withers.
Serving his country honorably, Bill dedicated a portion of his life to the United States Air Force as a sergeant. He was dedicated to improving and working on F-111D jets. Following his military service, he pursued a career in Solar Innovation construction where he flourished as an owner/operator of the Weatherworks Company.
Bill’s memory will be cherished by his loving wife, Cora Hope Withers, with whom he shared 46 beautiful years of marriage. She had been the love of his life since they met in first grade. He also leaves behind three children: Joshua Withers and his wife Heidi, Matthew Withers and his wife Kim, and Emelia Kivett and her husband Christopher. Bill’s true passion and ultimate joy in life was being alongside his beloved wife and being a part of his eight grandchildren’s lives: Hazelle June Withers, Lilyana Kivett, Wyatt James Withers, Kaya Hope Withers, Waylon Samuel Kivett, Cedella Ann Withers, Everly Eden Withers, and Charlotte Louise Kivett. His ultimate joy was spending time with his family, friends, and being the most incredible grandparent a child could ask for. A man of steadfast character and integrity, Bill was deeply devoted to his family and friends. Though his passing brings immeasurable sadness, those who knew him have been touched by his genuine love, unwavering support and sense of humor.
To honor William’s life and the impact he had on those around him, the family will hold a celebration of life on Saturday, October 21, 2023, at the Pompton Plains Fire Station #1 starting at 2:00 pm, allowing loved ones to gather and celebrate the BIG life of Billy. During this time, they will find solace in sharing memories and stories that celebrate his remarkable 71 journeys around the sun.
William Raymond Withers, Jr. will be remembered for his selflessness, hard work, and dedication to his loved ones. His legacy lives on through the profound impact he made on those fortunate enough to know him. May he rest in eternal peace.
