Classes and Activities at the Fessenden Center

The Fessenden Center is a multi-generational facility serving all of Hatteras Island with programs and activities for toddlers, youth, adults, older adults, and families. Located in Buxton, Dare County Parks and Recreation programming and Dare County Adult and Senior Services are both offered through the facility.
The center’s staff seeks to provide professionally designed and supervised programs that benefit all ages and interests in areas such as athletics, arts, wellness and general leisure programming. Youth programs include a variety of classes and lessons, as well as team and individual sports, summer camps, and special events. Adult programs are also diverse including shopping trips, movies, luncheons, team sports, fitness classes and speakers covering a variety of topics
The fitness and activity calendar provides a wide range of opportunities to learn, stay fit, and have fun. There is something for everyone at the Fessenden Center. The classes are free for Dare County residents over 55. For residents under 55 or non-residents, they are $3 a class or $15 a month.
