The fifth annual Dare to Scare 5K & Sweet Treat Fun Run event will be held at the Dare County Center in Manteo on Saturday, October 23, 2021. The 5K will begin at 8 a.m. and the Fun Run will begin at 9 a.m.

The Dare to Scare 5K is unique as it leads runners and walkers on a scenic trail through parts of Wanchese and Manteo. Participants are encouraged to dress in their Halloween best for a chance to win a prize. Prizes will also be awarded to the top three male and top three female race finishers. Pre-race activities will be held at the Coastal Studies Institute for runners and walkers to participate in prior to enjoying the course.
Registration is currently open and will continue through the day of the race, October 23, 2021. Volunteers and sponsors are also needed. For more information, visit www.obxgofar.org and www.darenc.com/dccenter or call the Dare County Center at 252-475-9270.
