Earth Fair in Nags Head on April 27
April 27, 2019 @ 1:00 pm - 4:00 pm EDT
Earth Fair OBX VII at Dowdy Park in Nags Head will bring together a variety of organizations, including the North Carolina Coastal Federation, to help the public learn about environmental protection. This year’s festival theme focuses on Positively Protecting Habitats.
This free event will be at Dowdy Park in Nags Head on April 27 from 1 to 4 p.m. Representatives from organizations will be present with various engaging, family-friendly activities that will help people learn more about the many ways they can help protect the environment.
There will be opportunities to learn about how to implement earth-friendly practices in your own back yard, have a chance to help with some plantings onsite and learn the importance of alternative energy sources.
The federation will be leading activities that will help community members learn about how they can protect water quality on the Outer Banks throughout the year.
“We want to find a way for everyone to contribute to a healthy coast, and for people to realize that their everyday actions make a difference — from capturing water in rain barrels, using native plants or purchasing reusable items,” said Sara Hallas, coastal education coordinator for the federation.
This event will also feature live music from Blurky’s Quirky Friends and Island Snowball Company will be onsite selling shaved ice.
Jockey’s Ridge State Park and Friends of Jockey’s Ridge, the North Carolina Aquarium on Roanoke Island, Outer Banks SPCA, Jennette’s Pier, U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service, Coastal Studies Institute, National Park Service, Hatteras Island Ocean Center, Outer Banks Center for Dolphin Research, Town of Nags Head, Dare Soil and Water Conservation, Can Stand OBX and more will be on site with family-friendly activities to celebrate Earth Day.
Dowdy Park is located at 3005 S. Croatan Highway in Nags Head. Overflow parking will be available at Nags Head Elementary School. This event will take place rain or shine.
