First Fridays 2019 – Starting June 7

New for 2019, Hatteras Island will have its own art-centric First Fridays series, which will host a myriad of activities and events at seven galleries throughout the island.
Presented by Hatteras Island’s Community of Art Galleries and held in conjunction with Rock The Cape/Dare County Arts Council, art lovers can enjoy a host of classes, highlighted artists, and even local fare that ranges from wine and cheese to coleslaw and fish shooters.

CLASSES, ACTIVITIES
Join Sandcastles at 3:00 p.m. and make a wind chime of driftwood, shells, and sea glass. And If you happen to be seeing this prior to Friday the 7th, Sandcastles is offering a Stone Medicine Class on Thursday the 6th at 9:00 a.m. Learn all about rocks and crystals and their unique properties. Owner/glass artist Wendy Sisler will be giving lamp work bead demonstrations from 6-7 p.m. Watch her melt glass over a flame and shape it into beautiful, colorful, and sculptural beads, which are then incorporated into beautiful pieces of jewelry.
