Coast Guard medevacs man off boat near Oregon Inlet
The Coast Guard medevaced a 22-year-old man Tuesday off a fishing vessel near Oregon Inlet.
Sector North Carolina watchstanders received a call at 5:30 a.m. that a crew member aboard the 43-foot fishing vessel Sea Dog had fallen and sustained an injury to his ear.
A Coast Guard 47-foot Motor Life Boat crew launched from Station Oregon Inlet at 5:48 a.m. and arrived on scene at 6:10 a.m.
The boat crew transferred the injured crew member and brought him back to Station Oregon Inlet. The man was taken to urgent care by a friend and was last seen in stable condition.
“It was a good team effort for the crew to safely get this crew member back to shore safely,” said Petty Officer 1st Class James B. Corbisiero of Station Oregon Inlet.
