Coast Guard assists vessel taking on water
The Coast Guard rescued three people Wednesday after the boat they were on began taking on water six miles east of Oregon Inlet.
Coast Guard Sector North Carolina watchstanders received notification Tuesday at approximately 11:30 p.m. that a 43-foot commercial fishing vessel with three people aboard was taking on water.
Coast Guard Station Oregon Inlet launched a 47-foot Motor Lifeboat crew to assist the vessel in distress. The coxswain of the 47-foot MLB made the decision to deploy two crew members and a dewatering pump to assist with dewatering efforts.
The 47-foot MLB crew escorted the vessel to Wanchese.
No injuries were reported.
