Hatteras-Ocracoke ferry running on amended schedule

The North Carolina Department of Transportation’s Ferry Division is running an amended two-boat schedule on the Hatteras-Ocracoke route.

Shoaling on the Ocracoke side is making it difficult for the smaller vessels to maneuver in and out of the dock.

The amended schedule will be in place until dredging on the main channel in Hatteras Inlet, is completed. Dredging operations are scheduled to be completed by March 31, at which time the division is anticipated to resume normal operations of this run.
 
The following departure schedule is currently in place:
 

From Hatteras:
5 a.m.
6 a.m.
8 a.m.
9 a.m.
11 a.m.
Noon
2 p.m.
3 p.m.
5 p.m.
6 p.m.
8 p.m.
9 p.m.
11 p.m.
12 a.m.

From Ocracoke:
4:30 a.m.
6:30 a.m.
7:30 a.m.
9:30 a.m.
10:30 a.m.
12:30 p.m.
1:30 p.m.
3:30 p.m.
4:30 p.m.
6:30 p.m.
7:30 p.m.
9:30 p.m.
10:30 p.m.
12:30 a.m.

The division will continue to monitor traffic demands and additional runs may be added as necessary.
