Ocracoke / Hatteras Ferry Routes Temporarily Canceled due to High Winds
The NCDOT Ferry Division announced via social media that the Hatteras and Ocracoke ferry service has been temporarily suspended due to gale force winds.
Hazardous weather conditions are expected to continue throughout Thursday evening and Thursday night as strong southwesterly winds continue, bringing Gale force winds and large waves around 10 – 17 feet in coastal regions south of Oregon Inlet.
Wind gusts 35 to 45 mph are expected throughout the evening, and minor to moderate water level rises will be possible in the 2 to 3 feet range across soundside Outer Banks.
