Ocracoke to Mainland Ferries Canceled due to High Winds
These ferry runs include:
• The 4 pm Cedar Island to Ocracoke ferry
• The 1 pm Ocracoke to Cedar Island ferry
• The 1:30 pm Ocracoke to Swan Quarter ferry
As of 12:30 p.m., the free ferry from Hatteras to Ocracoke was still running, but as usual for inclement weather, this is subject to change.
Hazardous weather conditions are expected to continue throughout Thursday as strong southwesterly winds develop and bring Gale force winds and large waves around 10 – 17 feet south of Oregon Inlet.
Wind gusts 35 to 45 mph are expected throughout the day, and minor to moderate water level rises will be possible on the order of 2 to 3 feet across soundside Outer Banks.
