UPDATE: National Park Service Rangers Respond to Report of Fatality Near Ramp 34 in Avon
At approximately 2:00 am on Monday, April 10, National Park Service Law Enforcement Rangers responded to a report of an unresponsive male near Ramp 34, just north of Avon, North Carolina. A citizen or visitor walking on the beach early this morning found the victim and called 911.
Upon arrival on the beach, Rangers discovered a deceased male appearing to be in his mid-thirties. National Park Service rangers, Dare County Sheriff’s Department, and Ocean Rescue from Avon all responded to the incident.
The deceased male has been identified as Christopher Fletcher from Riverdale, Georgia. He was 34 years old. His family has been notified.
Law enforcement officials continue to investigate. Additional details will be released once they become available.
